SoftCopy is solely owned and operated by me, Nancy Corbett. I
have always written. I wrote my first short story when I was
seven years old, and I've just never stopped.
I've done many things for a living, and I believe that each
experience I've had along the way has only served to enhance
my ability to write. I've written scores of short stories,
thousands of crime and arrest reports (no, I wasn't a cop,
and no, you shouldn't ask), a blizzard of technical documentation,
round files of business copy, worlds of web content, file cabinets
of white papers, a few grants, some term papers (my own) and
a YA novel.
I've edited news articles and press releases, RFPs and user
manuals, blogger rants and dissertations, speeches and sermons.
I've created presentations and instructional materials. I have
designed online courseware.
Now, after ten years of working as a Systems Administrator, I am
ready to build my own business. It's a difficult thing sometimes,
choosing to be happy. I've wanted a business of my own for
many years. It finally dawned on me that I could build a
business doing what I love most. Writing. Joseph Campbell
said that we should follow our bliss. I've heard it, thought
I understood it, but only now am I putting it into practice.
Only now am I following it. You know what? Doors are opening
for me. It doesn't feel like work. It feels like bliss.
